HONEYEATER V3 (cem3340 analog vco with sub-oscillators)

Honeyeater is the ideal choice for big sounds in compact cases! It serves as a versatile workhorse oscillator, capable of producing both classic and complex waveforms beyond typical analog oscillators.

Use the COARSE and FINE knobs to adjust pitch, with FINE allowing smaller, more precise pitch changes. Increase the volume of the Pulse, Triangle, or Sawtooth waves, as well as the Suboscillators, by raising the three faders. Note that waveforms may slightly overdrive in the top third of each fader’s range. You can also switch between a triangle or sawtooth waveform for the middle fader.

The SUB MIX knob controls the two sub-octaves: turning it right increases the volume of the sub-oscillator one octave below the root pitch, while turning it left boosts the one two octaves below. At the center, both sub-octaves play equally; at either end, the opposite sub is fully muted. Ensure the SUB fader (3) is raised to blend sub-octaves into the main mix.

To add white noise for a grittier sound, turn the NOISE knob to the right.

The Pulse Width of the Pulse waveform can be adjusted manually or via CV using the knob above the PWM CV input. Connect any CV source (0V to +5V) to modulate Pulse Width here.

The FM input accepts any control voltage to frequency-modulate the oscillator, with modes switchable between linear and exponential via the LIN/EXP switch.

Honeyeater supports both hard and soft sync by patching an external oscillator’s output (ideally a sawtooth wave) to the SYNC input. Select between sync types via a jumper on the back of the module.

When assembling the Honeyeater yourself, you have the option to use either a DIP-16 through-hole CEM3340 IC or a SOIC-16 SMD variant, which can be mounted using a small adapter board.

PCB/Panel sets come with the adapter board, kits will either come with the adapter board pre-populated.
