FULL KIT (SMD pre-soldered) – Jakplugg – uTides mkII (8hp) with black FR4 panel (calibration needed!!)

£99.99 (exc VAT)

uTides mkII is a smaller remake of Tides mkII from MI

This listing is for a full kit with SMD pre soldered. Includes power cable and mounting screws.

It is normal operation for the Pitch pot led to be lit when a patch cable is not connected.

It is because there is an internal voltage that the jack normals to, and the LEDs just measure whatever is on the jack input. once you connect a patch cord to it, then zero will be “off” like the others.

IMPORTANT !!!!

Firmware is installed, but you will need to install the mutable development environment and have a quality multimeter and an ST Link programmer to calibrate the module properly.

Instructions on calibration from Forest Caver here :

All you have to solder are the leds/jacks/pots

See pics for assembly help

You will have to calibrate the module yourself but it is a simple procedure.

To calibrate the unit:

  1. Disconnect all CV inputs.
  2. Connect the note CV output of a well-calibrated keyboard interface or MIDI-CV converter to the V/OCT input. Leave all the other CV inputs unpatched.
  3. Hold the Output & Freq buttons. The Freq LED will blink orange.
  4. Send a voltage of 1.000V to the V/OCT input.
  5. Press any button. The Output LED now blinks in orange.
  6. Send a voltage of 3.000V to the V/OCT input.
  7. Press any button.
  8. All done!

Description

UP, DOWN. ONCE, FOREVER. SLOW, FAST. SOBER OR DRUNKEN

Tides is all about waves that go up and down, from minute-long cycles to audio rates… This module is Mutable Instruments’ unique take on the looping AD envelope generator – pushing this well-known trope to unknown territories.

The core of the module is a digital asymmetric triangle function generator, which can be used in AD and AR modes (for envelope generation), or looping (as a VC-LFO or VC-DO).

The triangle generator is followed by a wavetable waveshaper providing linear, exponential, logarithmic, sinusoidal, or arc-sinusoidal shapes for the A and D segments. Then, a second processor applies either a 2-pole low-pass filter to the waveform, smoothing its sharp edges; or a rubbery wavefolder, adding kinks and bounces to the waveform.

POLYRHYTHMIC VARIATIONS

What sets this 2018 revision apart from its predecessor is the introduction of additional output modes, producing variations (shifted in amplitude, time, phase or frequency) of the main signal.

And of course, a redesign from scratch focused on accuracy and audio quality.
